Steel Banding Report Review Checklist

Use this sheet to check whether a segregation or banding report contains the information needed for an engineering decision. Tick an item when the record is complete; assess acceptance against the applicable specification.

1. Material and condition

Heat number, bar or lot identity and grade recorded.Dimensions, delivery condition and any later treatment identified.Report and specimen identifiers agree with the material under review.

2. Sampling and orientation

Position along the bar and radial location recorded.Section plane and working direction shown on a sampling map.Representative fields distinguished from targeted severe regions.

3. Examination method

Preparation, etchant, magnification and examined area recorded.Method and agreed edition identified; measured feature defined.Element maps or line scans include position, scale and acquisition conditions.

4. Images and measurements

Overview and detailed images retain scale bars and specimen labels.Constituent identification is supported by the examination.Hardness values include force, dwell and indent locations; individual results are retained.

5. Requirement and follow-up

Applicable acceptance criterion is identified separately from the test method.Mechanical-test location, orientation and conditions match the engineering question.Any further examination, sampling or disposition is documented and assigned.

Follow-up, owner and date

Record the missing evidence, agreed next examination or disposition.
